5 Ways to Transition Your Favorite Summer Staples to Fit Any Season

The mini tops, skirts and flip flops that are just too good to put away once fall comes along; okay maybe we can leave out the flip flops. Transitioning these too good to go summer pieces in your closet to fit any season means, more outfit choices and less heartbreak when saying goodbye to summer. The best way to transition a summer piece is to layer warmer pieces with them. Here are 5 ways to add warmth to your favorite summer staples to fit any season.

1. Layer a staple coat. A big coat is a shortcut to transitioning outfits back to chilly weather. An oversized coat over your favorite mini top adds warmth and coziness. Try thrifting a men’s leather jacket at your local thrift store, or look through your boyfriend’s closet for that added comfort.

2. Slip on those tights! When you are styling skirts and dresses, wearing tights adds dimension to your outfit. Have fun with it! Tights come in all types of sheerness, colors and details. If you are putting together a fall statement outfit add these Calzedonia burgundy tights under your favorite skirt. My personal favorite are these Calzedonia sheer black tights that add an extra element to any plain outfit.

3. Bring out your boots! It’s almost a given that once the fall season comes back around its time to start styling your favorite knee high boots. Taller boots add back the warmth you lose when ditching pants. The latest “It girl” boot currently is the Campus 14L Frye boot, for an alternative dupe try the Steve Madden Riggs Banana Leather boot.

4. Accessorize with a scarf. Scarves take a look to the next level while keeping your neck warm. I love throwing on a scarf on a gloomy day and feeling like I am walking around with a mini cozy blanket on my neck. Just like tights, scarves comes in a variety of colors and thicknesses.

5. Keep your head warm with a stylish hat! If you are going for a casual look try styling a baseball cap. If you are looking for extra warmth throw on a comfy knitted beanie. For a more elevated outfit add a fuzzy bucket hat!
